What is companion planting?

Companion planting as the name suggest, is planting different kinds of plants in close proximity to each other. This is a very useful technique especially if you want to keep pests away from your plants with out using pesticides. The basic principle of companion planting is to make use of the inherent properties of different plants to help other plants nearby. Also just as there are plants that work well together there are also those that don’t and they might just be the downfall of each other.
